Team Up Multisports has an easy to understand and follow behaviour procedure which helps to make the sessions enjoyable, safe and structured.

For most low level behaviour problems the behaviour policy allows children the opportunity to quickly acknowledge and correct their behaviour without getting themselves into further trouble. The coach will also use a number of behaviour strategies during the session, most notably the use of a points system, where children gain and lose points based on behaviour, use of our friendship values and competition to earn points for their teams.

Our behaviour model is explained during the briefing at the start of each session to help reinforce the process. This is great to refresh the children's memory and reaffirm the club's expectations from the start.

Behaviour Procedure
Step 1- Warning

The child is told why they have been given a warning and that if similar behaviour continues they will be given a timeout.

Step 2- Timeout

Children are told why they are on a timeout and where to sit. If the child uses their timeout correctly they will be back joining in with the games shortly. After the timeout the coach will have a quick chat with the child to ensure that the child understands why they had a timeout and that similar poor behaviour will result in speaking to parents.

Step 3- Parents informed of behaviour

Parents are informed at pickup, or via phone/email immediately after the session. Step 3 will happen if a child behaves badly after a timeout or if a more serious incident occurs (even if it is a first offence). In some situations an incident report will be written, explaining what happened during the session, why the behaviour is unacceptable and what the next steps might be. Children will always be given a clear reason why their parents will be spoken to.

Step 4- Parents informed the child is no longer allowed to come back to the club

If children have had a number of poor sessions resulting in speaking to parents, or a very serious incident occurred where the coach is not confident that they can keep this child or others safe from harm in future sessions, then a parent may be informed that their child no longer has a place on the club. This could be a cooling off period of a few weeks to reflect on behaviour, or a blanket ban from rejoining the club in the future for more serious incidents. Parents would be refunded for any sessions that the coach has said the child is unable to attend. This will always be a last resort option but will always be implemented if we do not believe we can keep a child safe.
